Limited tools!

You can build this hose box using just a miter saw and a drill. I designed this to be assembled with screws driven from the insides so none of them will show. It uses off-the-rack 1x3 and 1x2 boards readily available at any home center. Obviously, try to select the straightest boards you can. The widths on these may vary slightly, but this is designed in such a way that it won't matter. No ripping boards on a table saw necessary!

Customizing

I assembled the lid using pocket screws. If you don’t have a pocket hole jig, I’ve included an alternative method in these plans. Also, I built my box for a 25’ garden hose. The width and depth work out great, but there is a lot of extra space in the height. It doesn’t bother me, but if you want to modify it to make the box a little shorter, simply cut the legs and the side slats shorter. (All the other dimensions will remain the same.) If you have a longer hose, say 50’, I would leave the height the same.

Tools and materials:

You will need ten 1x3 boards and seven 1x2s.  You will also need a bunch of 1-1/4” screws and a drill/driver. Some glue, a couple clamps, and your good to go! Since this is an outdoor project, I suggest protecting it with an exterior latex house paint.
